Learning
Our Learning Approach
At Wings Academy, our program is inspired by Alberta’s Flight Framework and enriched by diverse, child-centered approaches. Together, these modules support every aspect of a child’s development, reflecting our W.I.N.G.S. philosophy — Well-being, Imagination, Nurturing, Growth, and Social development.
Flight
Alberta’s Early Learning and Care Framework Flight is the foundation of our curriculum, supporting children as capable, curious learners. It emphasizes play, relationships, and co-learning between educators and children, helping them build identity, confidence, and emotional well-being.
Reggio Emilia-Inspired Exploration
Inspired by Reggio Emilia, we view children as capable, expressive thinkers. Through project-based learning, collaborative inquiry, and beautifully organized spaces, children co-construct knowledge with educators and peers.
Nutrition & Food Philosophy
We provide nutritious, balanced meals that fuel healthy growth and development. Our menus are thoughtfully planned to support children’s energy, concentration, and well-being, while also introducing them to diverse tastes and healthy eating habits.
STEAM Learning (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math)
STEAM learning fuels curiosity through integrated, hands-on experiences that connect science, technology, engineering, art, and math. Children explore real-world concepts through inquiry, experimentation, and creative design, developing both critical thinking and innovation skills.
Outdoor Play & Nature-Based Learning
Outdoor play is part of our daily rhythm. Nature-rich experiences promote physical activity, resilience, and environmental awareness, while supporting sensory development and emotional well-being in all seasons.
Movement & Physical Literacy
Movement is essential to every child’s development. We incorporate dance, yoga, climbing, and games that enhance coordination, balance, and strength—while also supporting focus, self-regulation, and joyful expression.
